Moonyounghee Paris (FR)

The interior landscape of fashion designer Moonyounghee’s shop, located at 19 Quai Malaquais in Paris, is designed to highlight the variety of materials and volumetric harmonies of space in the tailoring.

Fashion designer Moon Young Hee Moon settled since 1996 in Paris is known for manifesting Korean ideas in a modern form. Her sophisticated design has sought to show the potential of the materials being used to enhance the elegant atmosphere of her work.

When selecting the lighting for the newly opened boutique, situated just by the water on the left bank of Seine, the main priority was to bring out the colour and texture of the sophisticated tailoring. It was therefore a given to use light fittings with good colour representation, utilising a high colour rendering index source - CRI 90.
Hidden linear LEDs and the trimless downlight, Deep Ringo, make up the general lighting for the space.
For the display light for the racks of clothes, the designer herself chose the Spy Trimless fitting which is fully adjustable; rotates 355 degrees and tilts 45 degrees.

The tubular design of the luminaire ensures a deeply recessed light source, so that glare is completely avoided; this can otherwise can be a problem in a lot of retail spaces where the customer, rather than focusing on the shopping experience, squints to try to avoid the intrusive beams of light from traditional retail luminaires.

The end result of the lighting and the interior design of this shop mirrors the believe of the designer herself; a pursuit of perfection and an eye on every little detail, with a personal twist.
